Big Crossley engine start up at the Anson Engine Museum. As you can see it still has some problems that need to be fixed though it was good enough to start up for the public 😎
Rare Briggs And Stratton Generator With Glass Fuel Pump

Ex military generator from ww2, i think its U.S signal corps?. I've since sold this engine but it was an amazing generator and would power lots of 110v bulbs at vintage shows. it would of been nice to of kept it as i had it for many years and tool it to many shows but i needed a slim down of my collection around 2020. I've never seen another with a fuel pump on maybe the only one in the UK?. Un...

Don't see many BSA or JAP engines these days
Particularly smokey
😅 yes, rings must be bad. I will be rebuilding it in the future😎
Very nice
Thanks😎
Needs some dentures, ain't got no teeth.
Interesting seeing a vibratory pump in one of those. For instance, vibratory pump is what’s used in espresso machines and Keurig as well as many other things of course but typically parts washers use a fountain or pond pump just because of the chemicals and grime it comes in contact with, kind of imagine it like using a full trash water transfer pump.
This pump failed, i have replaced it with a fish tank type pump but i still need to see if it will be good enough.
This is another example of an atmospheric or non-compression internal combustion engine with flame ignition, yes? Thank you for sharing!
Yes, thanks😎
why do the piston con rods cross through themselves, surely it would have been simpler to avoid that.
Its more simpler and uses less parts than a normal inline piston and displacer (no need for timing unlike like an inline type with another crank.) Though this was Robinsons patent they just made their own design of the stirling cycle. Theres a few different ones at the museum it it worth visiting, google Anson Engine Museum😎
I think that is a KyKo replica made in Pakistan?? I have two of those fans ruclips.net/user/shortswW6dHVHTD8Y Regards from Malta
It wouldn't be Christmas without a Petter.
😎
Hii
Hello
Wonderful!
Thank you😎
Nice! 🙌🏼👌👍🏻
Thank you😎
You got quiet a collection. New subscriber 👍🏻
Hi thanks, this is at the Anson engine museum😎
In a 1000 years from now we will need these skills.
I like this new approach to urban de-vegetation.
😁, i was surprised how good it was😎
If only my CS ran that smooth.

Thanks for posting this vidoe this is great!!! It's very similar to the 150 HP 1915 one we have at Kelham Island museum which worked at George Clarks steelworks on Penistone Rd in Sheffield till 1970 . I remember when It ran on gas but sadly no more, I think It was due to a leakage in the cooling jacket so the cylinder head was over-heating It's now run on an electric motor but still requires compressed air to turn It over It's great to see another fine example of a Crossley engine.
Thank you😎, have you visited the museum? Lots of crossleys!
Will do looks a great place many thanks once again for posting this vidoe take care all the best Greg harris
Is that a Hemi
Hi, no its not. Though there are old engines with a hemispherical shaped cylinder head.
Fabulous!
Thank you😎
Beautiful little motor, well done.
Thank you😎
Any engine specs?
Unfortunately i dont, though its made of cast iron so heavy, the flywheel is really heavy so it runs smooth, speed is adjusted with the inlet spring. Not sure if specs are on the internet somewhere?
I’m getting a Efc coolfan to replace my Tatung
Wow nice, just seen this comment sorry for the slow reply😎
That governor golds it steady

I love the shuffle at 3:30 - nice little drum loop this machine makes!
😎
the glass bowl is a filter bowl there should be a brass gauze screen inside to trap sediment the bowl is a water trap.mostly made by ac.
It was a nice fuel pump, i think the internals were original. It never failed in the years i rallied the genset😎
Sooo freaking cool
Thank you☺😎
nice job.
Thank you😎
They’ve done a great job on that! I’m hoping to come to the Anson this year
Thank you😎
Surprised your up at that time btw aha😅
What a nice thing, well done! It was seeing one of these sets that made me want a P3. I've now got two, both needing a thorough overhaul but they'll get done one day..
Thank you😎
What a machine! Lovely sound. I am curious if it was operating at its normal rated speed, or if the speed was reduced for the demonstration? How fast was id designed to run under working load?
Im not sure about the speed unfortunately, i will try and check when im next there and update the description 😎
Fantastic
Thank you😎
whats the clearance and materials on the cooling cylinder and piston? also lubricants and finishes? Nice model others could learn from it
Its a steel piston and cylinder which is a sliding fit piston with no friction, i used mineral engine oil.
Love the watering can hung from the purlins.. Fuel or lube oil?.. Bit heavy with the easy start too..
I think its fuel, the engine had a leak so he used the easystart just to start it for the visitors.
HOW MANY HORSEPOWER !
From what i remember it is around 40hp, will check the next time i am there.
An update - the pump has broken, it tries to work but doesn't pump much liquid. So i will have to find another pump.

🎉 Just found your channel and subscribed. Nice engine. Good work
Wow thank you😎☺️
They used these before syndrums were invented
Well impressed! 😊
Thank you😎
It sounds like a 4 stroke engine, only steam applied every second stroke?
Hi, it's a 4 stroke diesel. It uses compressed air to turn the engine over, once its spinning the diesel is ignited and runs like a normal diesel engine 😎.
@@EngineVids Thanks! Haha. Don't know why but assumed a steam engine, likely due to the heavy fly wheel.
@@Stefan_Boerjesson ahh😅, there are massive steam engines at the museum too😎.
@@EngineVids I know UK has really large ones.
That flywheel would arrive in Kent, if it fell off!
😅😂 omg haha! ⚠️
What a lovely mental image I have now! Thanks! lol
Very satisfying after all those years! Showing it uncut is great! Wondering, the engine at right looks similar to the 150 Hp Otto at Coolspring. What is it?
Thank you😎, on the right is the massive crossley which is on another video now but at the time the crossley was still under restoration.
@@EngineVids Got it, saw that video. Basically, most Otto patent engines have a family resemblance. Thanks!
Beautiful engine! Mechanically identical to many US farm engines, but details and paint job are special!
Thank you😎, it was restored in the 70s and took to shows. Unfortunately the original owner is in a care home now, I've since sold this engine as it was too heavy and I have many others.
@@EngineVids Too many engines is a nice problem to have! My son keeps saying we're out of room, then another one shows up.
@@SteamCrane 😅, I couldnt get in the garage due to all the engines at one point😳.
@@EngineVids Sadly, we use tarps!

Very neat engine! Interesting variation on a pendulum governor. Age?
Just seen the comment, i cant remember the age atm unfortunately.
@@EngineVids No problem, I'm just glad it survived.
Somehow I never knew Crossley made engines this big. What is the rated HP, dimensions, and age?
Just seen your comment sorry, as for the size i dont know atm just that it is massive😅, the hp is around 40 odd hp from what i remember. Age im sure is 1920s, next time i am there i will try and get more info and update the description 😎
Looks and sounds fantastic. Thanks for sharing👍
Thank you😎
